SPIN & PARITY MODE INSTRUCTIONS

S ½ P (SPIN & PARITY) INSTRUCTIONS
Pressing the LH mouse button (S) whilst over this item in the SELECTOR menu produces a Segre plot of the Spin magnitude, from spin-zero to greater than spin-8. Purple, for instance, groups spin-zero and spin-half into one bracket. Note that by grouping both the odd and even spins together, any odd/even effects should cancel, but the spins of neighbouring nuclides are so different that the odd/even effect still shines through.

Pressing the MID mouse button (½) gives a Segre chart colour coded by integral/half-integral spin, or bosonic/fermionic character. Note the strict chequer-board pattern. Pressing the RH mouse button (P) produces a Segre chart colour coded by parity, either odd (-), or even (+).

By pressing both RH and LH mouse buttons together (S) and (P), then the chart is colour coded by both spin and parity. 'Negative' (-) values of spin code for odd parity, and 'positive' (+) values for even parity.

Other combinations of buttons have no other effects.
